Getting into the Green of Spring!
The buds are blooming, the grass is growing and all along the North Georgia Mountains, you can see the faint green of new foliage overtaking the brown hillsides. Spring is here! After one last stand by Old Man Winter, with some unseasonably cool temperatures and even a few flurries, the weather appears to be catching up with the calendar. Highs in the upper sixties and lower seventies are expected, allowing one to get outdoors and really enjoy everything to see and do this time of year!

Bear On the Square Festival, 2001
Dahlonega's fourth annual Bear On the Square Festival begins April 20th! Believe it or not, there really was a bear on the square back in 1996 when a small cub wandered into the heart of Dahlonega and perched itself in a tree on the Historic Square. We've been celebrating the event ever since with an annual festival that includes concerts, workshops, bluegrass jam sessions, street dancing, children's activities, storytelling, country auction, regional foods, and this year features an expanded Appalachian crafts section with demonstrations and sales of traditional mountain crafts. You can find out more at the official Bear On the Square website.

Always Something To Do
If you can't make it to Bear on the Square there's still so much to do in the mountains. Hiking, horseback riding, canoeing, shopping, concerts, theater, great restaurants, mountain biking and so much more. If you wish, you can just lay back on the deck of your private cabin and do nothing, followed by a dip in the Jacuzzi before bed. Visit the official Dahlonega website for a sample of what's available, or contact us with your questions.
