The Exciting, Tour de Georgia Comes to Dahlonega!
On April 23rd Dahlonega will be the Finish Line City for Stage Five of the Tour de Georgia!!
We are
extremely excited since last year we only got to see these world class athletes as they moved (quite quickly!)
through our sleepy town.
The Tour de Georgia is the highest ranked stage race in North America and features 120
cyclists from all over the world competing for $100,000 in cash and prizes. Stage Five is one of the
longest and toughest, covering 134 miles from Dalton to Dahlonega and climbing a total of 18,953 ft as
cyclists make their way over the mountains. Even if you're not a cyclist, this will be a very exciting
event not to miss!!

First Festival of the Year:
Bear On The Square!
Believe it or not, there really was a "Bear On The Square" back in 1996 when a small cub wandered into
the heart of Dahlonega and perched itself in a tree on the Historic Square. We've been celebrating the
event ever since and as always this year's 7th Annual Bear On The Square Festival, April 17th & 18th will feature crafts,
food, music and activities for the entire family! Plus, the Holly Theater will be performing a special
production of
"Goldilocks And The Three Bears on the Square"a delightful play telling the story of Goldilocks and
the day the bear came to the town square in Dahlonega.
Visit the official Bear On The Square Web site for a full
listing of events.
