An American Celebration....
July 4th in Dahlonega is more than just fireworks! We celebrate all day with an Independence Day Festival with arts and crafts, food, historic tours, bluegrass bands, and much more. Spend the day by getting into town early to enjoy the festival and dine at one of Dahlonega's excellent restaurants. Then take a short walk to the Owen Drill field at North Georgia College & State University for the spectacular fireworks display! It's all within easy walking distance and is a great way to celebrate our nation's independence. We still have a few cabins available, so visit our website for reservation information.

....and an International Festival
The Inaugural Dahlonega International Film Festival (DIFF) is a unique addition to our ever-growing cultural community with independent films from all over the world being shown from June 28th to July 1st. Ranging from feature length epics to two-minute video "shorts", the DIFF festival showcases a wide variety of films including documentaries, comedies, dramas, animation and more from up-and-coming artists that you just won't find at the local Googleplex 64. Truly a unique opportunity!

Come Up and Beat the Heat!
For those who live in the Southeast, July and August can be a hot time of the year. Fortunately, we're perched in the North Georgia Mountains where it's usually 8 to 10 degrees cooler than the Atlanta area, and even cooler still than anywhere further south. We also have numerous lakes, rivers and streams to help you keep your cool. Lake Lanier is only a few minutes away with boat rentals, parks and swimming areas. Our local Chestatee and Etowah rivers provide a relaxing and scenic oasis by tube, canoe, or kayak and for those with more adventurous tastes, the Ocoee River gives a wet and wild ride. Remember, there's always lots to see and do in and around Dahlonega, and up here you can stay cooler too!
