A Big Bang! July 4th in Dahlonega! July 4th is a special time here in Dahlonega. We spend the day by gathering on the square for music, arts and crafts, free watermelon, Colonial demonstrations and home made ice cream. As the sun goes down the whole town meets on the Owen Drill field on the campus of North Georgia College and State University for a spectacular fireworks display! Music in the Mountains On any given day here in Dahlonega, you can find a unique mix of music on or around the Historic Square. The Gazebo concert series takes place the first Friday of every month in the park just off the square and is a great chance to lay out a blanket and enjoy some music outdoors. The Folkways Center provides many unique music programs and cultural events such as the Mountain Music & Medicine Show on the 1st Saturday of every month and the Mountain Music Revue on the 4th Satuday of the month. A fairly recent addition to the local music scene is the Crimson Moon, located right on the square which has coffee, pastries and artwork with local artists performing just about every week. Just take a listen and you're bound to hear some great music in Dahlonega.
