An Art & Music May!

It's a delight for the senses! We have a variety of both visual and audible arts to showcase this month. Concerts and Art shows abound and our most prolific and well known artist, Mother Nature (I'm sure your familiar with her work!) has been painting the hillsides with colors of Spring and filled the mountain air with the music of songbirds.

Get out and enjoy the sights and sounds of springtime in the mountains, or take it all in from your own private deck or Jacuzzi tub! Make Your Reservations Now!

Wild Flower Festival of the Arts

Art, History and Nature comes together at the 19th Annual Wild Flower Festival of the Arts on the Historic Square in Dahlonega. This juried fine arts show provides an opportunity to find that special work of art you've been searching for. Enjoy the beauty of quality artwork amid the natural beauty of springtime in the North Georgia Mountains. Wildflower displays, tours of areas abundant in wildflowers conducted by naturalists and lectures on gardening provide an exciting opportunity to photograph and learn about wildflowers in North Georgia.

The Buisson Arts Center :
The Buisson Arts Center provides another showcase of fine music this month:

Darrel Scott Returns...   Songwriter, singer, and instrumentalist Darrell Scott is back and this time he's brought along the "piano-pop fusion of Gabe Dixon.
May 6, 8 p.m.

The Long Drop...   Described as a "neotraditional Irish band", The Long Drop combines fresh arrangements of vintage and contemporary Irish songs with a blend of fiddle and flute-driven jigs. May 7, 8 p.m.

Rodney Crowell...   Grammy award winner Rodney Crowell performs at the Buisson Arts Center, May 21st. Rolling Stone Magazine described him as the kind of can't-miss star of the future after the release of his first album and holds the distinction of being the only guy to write, sing, and produce five consecutive number-one songs in the country music field. May 21, 8 p.m.

The Crimson Moon :
The Crimson Moon on the historic square remains a unique musical emporium where you'll hear everything from contemporary folk, bluegrass and Celtic to blues, old time, country and even gospel ringing through the rafters of the 1858 Parker-Nix Storehouse.

Dromedary...   "Masters of multiple instruments" - Andrew Reissiger & Rob McMaken of Dromedary create a sound that both retraces and forges paths between cultures. These two world history and music teachers play world music in a truly American way -- mixing seemingly disparate elements and creating unexpected beauty. May 6, 8 p.m.

Matthew Kahler...   With three solo records, active touring and an upcoming new release in the making, singer/songwriter Matthew Kahler's popularity in the southeast is soaring and is now taking a number of acoustic venues in the United States by storm. May 7, 8 p.m.

Emerald Rose...   Blending chorus vocals, pennywhistle, Irish pipes, world percussion, and driving guitars, Emerald Rose forms a four-man Celtic folk rock band with a rich, original "world fusion" sound with influences ranging from the Chieftains to Jethro Tull. May 13, 8 p.m.

Andy Offutt Irwin...   With a manic Silly Putty voice, astonishing mouth noises, and hilarious stories, Andy Offutt Irwin is equal parts mischievous school boy and the Marx Brothers, peppered with a touch of the Southern balladeer. Andy is one vibrantly odd bird, with feathers that tease, tickle and tug at the heart – And a whopper of a personality, which barely fits in most rooms. People are drawn to him like magnets to a refrigerator. And inside, it's all Mountain Dew and Jolt Cola.
May 14, 8 p.m.
