Autumn Is On Its Way!!

WOW! We can't believe that fall is already knocking on our door! It's been a wonderful summer, but we're ready for the cooler temperatures and looking forward to the changing leaves of Autumn!
Dahlonega is also getting ready for fall! Here are some of the events going on in September: |

The Mountain Music and Medicine Show
revives the "old time" radio show complete with live music and entertainment every first Saturday of the month! This month the show will be on the seventh. Live radio broadcast on Gold Country 104.3 FM.

The Folkways Center will also be hosting The Second Annual Bluegrass and Folkways Festival the 13th, 14th & 15th, bringing some of the best Bluegrass, Old-Time and Traditional Acoustic Music from around the country! An event not to miss!

Dahlonega will be officially kicking off the Fall season with Autumnfest on the 21st & 22nd with food, arts and crafts on the square, dancing, music and much more!
|
And For the Athletes, The Six Gap Century - Three Gap Fifty Bike Ride provides a challenging ascent and descent of either three or six (your choice) of the steepest climbs in the North Georgia Mountains. The Six Gap Century ride is 100 miles with over 10,700 feet of vertical climbing! While the Three Gap Fifty provides a little bit easier trip with only 50 miles. A great event to spectate or participate! |

September 29: 6-Gap Century & 3-Gap Fifty Bike Ride -
One of the most challenging 100-mile bicycle rides in the country. The less hardy can ride the
fifty-mile, three-gap alternative to the century. Begins and ends at NGC&SU.

The largest arts & crafts festival in the NE Georgia mountains with over 300 arts & crafts booths;
includes traditional mountain festivities such as hog calling, liar's contest, crosscut sawing,
clogging, buck dancing, and bluegrass music. Historic Town Square.

October 19-20: Auraria Gold Festival -
Mountain cooking and entertainment; gold panning and crafts. Located in Auraria, the first gold rush
town in the area.

October 24-27: Dahlonega Art Alliance 9th Annual Fall Art Show & Sale -
Members of the Dahlonega Art Alliance display original paintings, photographs, sculpture, jewelry,
and other fine arts. Location: American Legion Hall, Morrison Moore Pkwy.
